Women in Tech Nottingham holds a very special place in my heart. Nottingham has a remarkable tech community as a whole, and Women in Tech embodies the best aspects of that community.
The meetups have a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere, and feature excellent speakers every time. I started attending Women in Tech mid 2017, and it has enriched my life so much!
I have learnt a lot from the speakers and fellow attendees. I have made close friends and been afforded great opportunities by the people I met there. One of my goals for this year is to learn to speak in public, and the #WiTNotts crowd has been amazingly supportive of it. I've already been encouraged to do a lightning⚡️ talk during this year's session, and have been offered help to write abstracts, find CFPs and practice.
It is a space where people seek to support and elevate others, and that’s what makes it special. Since I started attending, the meetup has gained more and more momentum. This month’s event was its third birthday celebration, and the last event held at their current venue, as it’s just too small for it now.
I’m very pleased we are able to support this amazing community in their growth, giving back to a group of people that have given me so much.
