For the fourth time since 2018, Capital One UK proudly sponsored Nottinghamshire Pride, and it was bigger than ever!

The streets of Nottingham were filled with colour, kindness and jubilation on Saturday 29th July as people around Nottinghamshire came together to celebrate, educate and increase visibility of the LGBTQIA+ community across the county.

100+ associates, senior leaders and guests came together for the parade in Nottingham on the day to shine a light on how proud we are of our inclusive workplace, and the importance of being an active ally to the LGBTQIA+ community.

There were also a number of activities hosted across the business in the week leading up to the day, including an internal speaker event from author Olly Pike (he/him), who spoke about LGBTQIA+ education for young people across the UK. We also hosted a Pride marketplace where we were joined by local authors and charities, such as Notts LGBT+ Network.

Earlier this year, Capital One UK secured a place on Stonewall's top 100 list for leading LGBTQIA+ inclusive employers, something that was at the forefront of the celebrations on the day.

Tania Usherwood-Pye (she/her), Early Careers Programme Manager at Capital One UK said

“Pride is certainly what I felt as I held my sister's hand at the Capital One UK offices and looked out at the fantastic associates, family and friends who were joining together to celebrate Nottingham Pride. We were covered in rainbow colours, glitter and excitement. It was emotional, incredible, uplifting and heart warming to feel the sense of community and I was so happy to be able to be part of the experience with our Capital One flags flying high in support of LGBTQIA+. While this was a fabulous event to be part of - the serious message of the work to do in support of LGBTQIA+ is not and was not lost and there is still more to achieve.”

Theo Judge (he/him), Financial Analyst and leader of OutFront at Capital One UK said

“As the co-lead of our LGBTQIA+ business resource group (OutFront), I've been so pleased to see how many people have been able to get involved and join in with our Pride week events this year; a definite highlight for me has been seeing so many people around the office wearing our new pride lanyards, both in support and in celebration. The day of the Notts Pride parade was also my wedding anniversary, so getting to welcome family and friends to march with us (and our six million pride flags) was a unique and fabulous way to celebrate! This said, the support of the LGBTQIA+ community doesn't begin or end with Pride, and as always we will keep pushing towards improvement year round.”
