“I actually studied Chemistry at Uni. I picked it because I found it really interesting at school and loved the logic of working out mechanisms in organic chemistry. The analytic skills and mindset I built in chemistry have certainly helped in my role at Capital One.

I spoke to some current grads at a Bright Network Women in Technology and Consulting careers fair, which is what inspired me to apply. Hearing them talk about the range of teams they'd worked in since they started made the role seem really interesting and varied, plus they all seemed to genuinely enjoy it.

I find the projects I work on really interesting, particularly because we get given a lot of ownership which makes you feel empowered and motivated to work since you're driving it. But mostly, I met some of my best friends on the internship and grad scheme, and they make work fun every day.

My role at the moment is usually a mix of analysis for my current project, writing decks for presentations, and meetings with my team or catch ups with the other grads. A big moment for me recently was presenting one of my projects to a room (on zoom) of managers and a director. I knew my project well, and felt very confident answering all their questions, as well as getting the information I needed from them."
