“My background is quite different. I studied Chemistry at Imperial College. So, it was having the responsibility for providing new ideas and solutions as a Strategy Analyst at Capital One that appealed to me.
In fact, even as an intern, you are exposed to the whole process. In the short 10 weeks you’re here, you take charge of a project that could impact the business, and your findings are invaluable in helping to shape the future of Capital One. That’s another reason I chose to join, you don’t get many opportunities with internships to own your own decisions!
Catching up with my mentor and buddy usually kicks off my day. They encourage me to run our meetings, take ownership of the agenda and discuss the project – from talking them through the analysis and results, to reviewing how best to approach the next stages.
The rest of the day will mainly be tackling the project itself, which can range from coding to drafting presentations or even scheduling ad-hoc meetings if I am stuck. I found myself talking to various members across different divisions to gain insights and provide guidance on my project. Everyone has always been welcoming and always goes out of their way to make me feel comfortable and help steer me in the right direction.
I’m met some great new people in a very diverse environment and feel I’ve made an impact."
